My mom, sister, and I had just gotten on the road to head to Tennessee. We were on Busbee parkway (not the busys half, but the half connecting Shiloh to Wade Green) which is a 4 lane divided road thru an area of apts/ retirement communities. We were driving in the left lane and I saw up ahead a large tortoise meandering across the road. He was in the right lane and obviously taking his prescious time in crossing the road. Me being me, I freaked out and was like “mom someone is going to hit it!!!”, and mom being the wonderful mom that she is, did a U-turn, and stopped in a left turn lane, allowing Steph and me to get out. I jumped out of the car and darted into the street. The tortoise was pretty big, it was the size of a large dinner plate. I picked it up and carried it delicately to the side of the road, placing it on the other side of the guard rail where it could do its meandering back into the woods.

I have found that I can make blog entries on this website. All you people are now doomed, doomed I say!
Gabriel’s bakery made me so mad today! This week is my fiance’s b-day so I ordered a cake from them, partly for him and partly to try out their cake since I was considering using them for my wedding cake. I ordered a yellow cake with a raspberry filling to see if thats what I wanted. I came in today to pick up my cake and the girl that worked there couldnt find any record of my order! They lost my order or something and never made my cake. Then she blows it off by saying how busy they were today because of graduation, and how they had some extra plain cakes in the back that shed ice one for me real quick. No manager ever came out to apologize for not having my cake or give any kind of discount/make amends.
On top of that, I had been looking forward all week to having one of their deliscious chicken salad sandwiches for lunch when I picked up my cake, and they were all out when I got there so I couldn’t get one. My fiance ordered a soup and sandwich and they forgot to ever bring him out his soup.
We had the cake tonight and it tasted kinda dry like it wasn’t freshly baked today (I guess their spares aren’t made each day?) and the icing job was obviously rushed. I was so disappointed in the whole experience, and I definitely won’t be using them to make my wedding cakes – what if it had been my *wedding* cake order they had just “lost”!?

We found a site for the wedding and booked it for June 24th, 2006 (a Saturday evening).
The website for the place is http://www.magnoliafun.com . I also attached some pix I took when we were there.
It’s this great Victorian Southern house from 1892. the house itself has several small rooms that each have a food display in it (one room with cheese/crackers, one room with veggies and dip, and one room with fruit and **CHOCOLATE**). Then I also get to pick 4 other food items. I was thinking of having a chicken, a beef, a pasta, and a sandwich dish. The place also includes the bride’s cake. (i’ll get a grooms cake from a bakery). Beyond the original house there are two large additions, the reception room and the ceremony room. For those over 21 (ID required), we will be serving wine and champagne at an open bar.
Paul’s birthday is next week (the 25th) so I’ve ordered two birthday cakes for him as an excuse to try out some cake choices. I’ve picked out a DJ and a florist altho I havent met with them yet. I’m currently looking for an officiant and a wedding planner. If anyone has any song ideas (fun upbeat ones or soft ones) email em to me.
last weekend my friends and i went up to Helen, a very small town in north georgia. its a touristy town cause its sposed to be a mini german village. like all the buildings look like a german village and the restaurants serve german food, etc. the funny thing about it tho, is that its like the biker capitol of the south or something. it has all these great roads to drive on and stuff so i guess thats why congregate there. but its funny cause the little “german” shops all sell harley davidson gear and confederate (do you know what that is? )stuff. and you walk down the lil main strip and theres all these bikers every where riding up and down. we went to the local bar sat night and got drunk off our asses. the place is funny cause the locals go there and theyre all stuck in the 80s or something. all the music is 80s and they dress like the 80s and theres all these old women in their 40s dressed like theyre 20….its hilarious.
busy busy! for being unemployed i sure seem to have a lot to do all the time. this past weekend i officially moved out of my dads house. im so glad to finally have all of my stuff out of that stuff. for those of you that dont know my dad…stuff has a habit of getting thrown out randomly and without permision at that house. this weekend was no different. i almost had a meltdown when i found out that he had “loaned” my fridge to “claudia”. who the F is claudia? according to steph she is “some girl he went out with for like 2 weeks”. why would you give a *fridge* to a girl youve only known two weeks? and doesnt he know that when you stop seeing someone you get your shit back? specifically when it wasnt ur shit to begin with. then after that i discovered that he had cut a huge hole out of the middle of my stop sign. the “top” is gone. why would you cut “top” out of “stop”. omg he makes me so mad!! ok deep breath.
this week ive been helping sal pack up and move out of his house. hes moving up 575 which blows. at least its only to sixes road and not actual canton. ive been watching that new show Lost and by the end of today ill be all caught up on the season. its amazing how much tv ive been watching trying to see entire seasons worth of episodes for 8 shows. yesterday steph and i went to get chinese and smoothies for lunch. it cost me $16!! i remember the days when craig and i would get chinese food for only L2.50. hmm on top of that, while it tasted fabulous yesterday, in true chinese fashion, it tastes like crap reheated the next day. joy. hmm looks like annabelle likes it tho.
so todays agenda: i brought my moms computer home cause it keeps freezing on her. im going to disect it and see if i can get it running again. i also need to start unpacking the boxes i brought over from my dads, and hopefully hit the tanning bed.
