ahh hurry updates while i still can!!

so some asshat put up photos of boots for sale in my gallery, which had like 3k hits each pair (think they checked out all my awesome baby pix while they were there? i doubt it…) anyhow so it used up all my bandwidth and locked me out of my own dang site until like Oct 8th. They have it temp on for me to make fixes, and i’m actually going to try to move everything to one of the free hosting sites instead of paying for hosting anymore. more about that later b/c i wanna get this posted and take a nap

lucas said a 4 word sentence today, “boy (as in his Little People boy) under Lucas bed”

he also had his first cooking lesson today in helping me make belgian waffles (from a box of course). he broke the egg on the counter for me and then poured it from the shell into the bowl. then he poured the milk from the measuring cup into the bowl and used a whisk to stir it all together. then he helped me pour the batter from the mixing bowl into the special waffle iron scoop (a premeasured cup to put in just the right amount of batter into the iron). after they cooked, he helped me eat them!

here comes the Po-Po

Paul was driving home from work an alternate route thru Jasper he hasn’t driven before and we are chatting on the phone. He said he thinks there is an unmarked police car driving behind him and he doesn’t know what the speed limit on this highway is. i suggest he just drives 55, gets in the right lane, and lets the cop pass him. he said he tried to let the cop pass him, but the cop changed lanes and stayed behind him. i asked if he wanted to get off the phone and he said no, but then a minute later he said “i’m getting pulled over.” so i hang up and wait for him to call back. he calls back like 2 minutes later. “that was fast,” i say, and he replies “it was frank.” lol. i just gotta quote an old 90s song, “how bizarre, how bizarre.” apparently frank saw him and thought he recognized him so he followed him while he ran his plates, and when he saw it was paul for sure, he pulled him over to say hi.

shark sighted over Boston

this is a repost from my sister from 2 weeks ago, it is soo funny:

After seeing these guys on reddit last week (http://airswimmers.com/) I bought one for my boyfriend’s birthday party on Friday.
they are so f***ing amazing
After playing with it for only about 10 minutes I have the bright idea of “hey, let’s bring it outside!” because yeah, it has a weight to keep it from going too high. Next thing I know I’m watching the shark fly off into the wild blue yonder as we run to the car to chase it across nearly the entire city of Malden. We repeatedly catch up to it, try and get in range with the remote, just to have a gust of wind pull it away from us again. After about half an hour of the most intense shark chase of my life, we watched our baby make its way east toward the ocean.
Anyway, just wanted you guys to know if you happened to look up and have a shark sighting over the weekend. Also, if you buy one, tether that shit if you want to take it outdoors.

How your baby’s growing:
Your baby’s skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now, and she’s around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

ohh sweat glands. fascinating. so i had my ultrasound on saturday at the peekabelly 3D place and it is a GIRL!! im insanely excited about that. i wanted a boy first and then two girls, and so far that is exactly what i got! (rethinking the third child now, tho). paul, lucas, mom, lauren, steph, and ross all came with my to the U/S to find out with me, it was really fun! im glad lauren talked me into doing it, it makes it more special to have everyone there. heartbeat is still at 155, and in two more weeks i’ll be going to the doc for another ultrasound and a full anatomy scan. *fingers crossed* that she doesn’t grow boy parts in the next two weeks, altho we all saw the triple lines so i dont think that will happen. i’ve found some gorgeous nurseries online. here is an example of one: glenna jean

in other news, aunt nephie (as lucas calls her) and ross have just left to go back to Boston *sad face*. now i dont know what to do with myself, b/c ive gone from months of constant busyness and deadlines to having plenty of free time. girl scouts will be starting in two weeks, so that is a project to look forward to. other random updates: i got my tank cleaned up and filled last week. lucas says “uh oh ‘gator” combining “uh oh spaghettio” with “later alligator”. we went swimming in the pool a couple of times this past week and lucas LOVED it! on fri the 2nd, he actually started swimming! he figured out how to kick his legs behind him to propel himself fwd and go places. that was after only 4 pool trips total. he can also climb in and out the side of the pool on his own, and loves to jump from the side of the pool down to us. we also tried out both gymboree with lauren, jake, and ryan as well as a gymnastics class these past two weeks. i want to sign us up for both, but it will depend on money and my ability to handle him.

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length . Right now, he’s about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too.

so long as i take a zofran i dont get sick anymore, even if im doing a lot of physical stuff. ultrasound is this weekend!! i thought i felt a little movement a couple of nights ago, but i haven’t felt anything else since so i think i imagined it.

ice cream truck

I was lying in bed reading to lucas, when i could faintly hear “it’s a small world” playing from somewhere. at first i thought matt and sarah left one of shelly’s toys here, then i thought lucas had turned on the baby swing in the nursery. i wandered out to find the sound, and realized it was coming from OUTSIDE. it immediately dawned on me what would be playing children’s music loudly through the streets — and ICE CREAM TRUCK! i ran out to the street looking for it, but it had moved on to the other side of the neighborhood. i ran inside, grabbed a fistful of cash and my kid, and ran out to the car to hunt down the truck. unfortunately, this story has a sad ending. after searching both my neighborhood and the one next to us, the truck was gone. determined to have ice cream now, i headed five minutes down the road to Hickory Flat, hoping to find a Brusters. I didn’t have any shoes on, so it had to be somewhere i could drive up to. Alas, I didn’t see the Brusters either, so we had to settle for McDonalds sundaes.

Hilton Head Day 1

Busy day! After breakfast, Mom and I took Lucas to the beach. He had been last year, but last year he wouldn’t go into the water, so this was his first time in the ocean. He LOVED it! He loved playing in the wet sand (and flinging it) and he really loved playing in the waves. We went out as deep as his knees, and I taught him to jump when the white crest of the waves came in to where we stood. We went out where it was about to my waist for a minute and I held him up in the water, but he was heavy and it was hard to hold him and jump the waves at the same time. We stayed out for an hour before I got hungry and was worried about burning. We’re going to go back again tomorrow.

After a quick hot dog lunch at the beach snack bar, we headed back to the beach house for naps all around. Now I know how Paul feels when I’m able to just say Im going to go take a nap anytime I get tired and he is stuck staying up with Lucas, b/c Mom got to go right to bed and Lucas stayed up another hour until his usual naptime before we got to sleep.

After nap, we went to the diner for dinner (it was 5pm by now), and then to Shelter Cove shopping plaza to see the yachts (“biiig boats”) in the harbor. I got bit by mosquitoes 13 times, and lucas got one on his face (plus a couple of others), so that put a bit of a damper on the evening. Last stop was the grocery store for supplies, and now i’m just waiting for lucas to go to sleep. I’m looking forward to taking him back to see the ocean again tomorrow.

never again

today has been awful. nothing bad happened, it was just soo stressful trying to get a kid and a dog ready to go to the beach. i didnt even get out of town until 330pm, which means we didnt make it to the beach house until 9pm and it was after ten by the time we got the car unloaded and the bed ready for lucas (and of course he hadnt napped in the car). by the time we got to the beach house, i was so exhausted and fed up i was about ready to cry.
