the kittens are getting a bit bigger now. i don thave a scale that measures in grams to know how much tho. the black one and the fluffy gray ones have lost their umbilical cords (this is sposed ot happen) but the other 3 still have them. the black one has one eye open, but is still blind. sunshine is doing well, but i think she is getting restless after beeing cooped up feeding kittens all the time.

Last night around 6pm Sunshine went into labor again. She kept trying to push something out of her, but couldnt seem to get it out. She left her kittens and crawled under the bed, panting and crying. I felt so badly for her. Labor is only sposed to last like 15 mins and she was in labor for like an hour by the time we got her to the emergency room. She finally passed a stillborn kitten on the ride down there. I knew there was no way it could be a live kitten since it didnt come until like 6+ hours after the rest and since the labor was so long, but i was still so sad to see the little dead kitten. i have no idea at what point it would have died or why she didnt have it when she had the rest. poor little kitten that never even made it out 😦
sunshine and the other 5 kittens are all still doing very well. its kinda early to tell if they are boys or girls, but taking a stab at it, the vet thinks that they are: black – male, grey tabby – male, and then the brown tabby and solid grey ones are females. we could be totally wrong tho since theyre only a day old 🙂
the kittens were born today!! she had 5!!! i had no idea she was about to have them cause she was acting pretty normal yesterday, and then this morning when i went in to feed her/check on her, etc i heard this small sound from the room and i opened the door and she was laying there with a bunch of kittens! we caught the very last one being born and it had just come out and was still in its little sac. sunshine seemed kinda overwhelmed with the first 4 and wasnt attending to it right away so paul broke the sac so it could breath. then she wasnt breaking the umbilical cord so i was worried about that but she eventually got to it.
when they first came out, they all looked wet and black so i thought they were all going to be solid black 😦 but as they dried and their fur fluffed up it turns out that 3 are long-haired greys, a brown and black tabby, and a solid black one. it was neat to watch them go from tiny wet black blobs to looking more like fluffy kittens. they were crawlin all over each other and being darned cute!
ive added a bunch of pix to my album, so check them out, and there will be tons more to come!

Steph (my sister)’s cat, Sunshine, is pregnant and about to pop. She’s coming to live with me while she has the kittens. I’m really excited about it since I’ve never seen kittens be born or had little baby kittens. I’m going to take videos/pix of the babies each week as they grow and develop.

“The … resident originally called a plumber because her toilet was blocked,” Phillips said in a statement released by the Northern Territory government. “I arrived to see a large python head peering out of the toilet bowl.”
my dad called me yesterday to ask if im going to the lake for thanksgiving this year. for once i was able to say i was cause im finally NOT WORKING over the holidays. but today i actually thought about going to the lake, and i realised i dont want to go for – but for a whole new reason this year. this will be the first time the family has gotten together since the funeral. how are we going to have a happy thanksgiving dinner when 3 chairs will be empty? i wonder if uncle stuart is going to come. what do you say to a man thats lost everyone?? the whole thing is going to be sad and weird and really gonna suck.

reading over this i realise i just sorta said it without going into much detail. the truth of it is, im really really saddened when i put deep thought into it, so i usually try to just never think about it at all. if i think about it or talk about it i get near tears…like now.
Wednesday
Weds morning we went on our first excursion. It was sky rides through a rainforest. you get in this large sky bucket thing and it takes you up 120 feet to the canopy top. you glide through the tree tops while a guide tells you about all the wildlife. we saw several types of birds up in the tree tops, and looking down at the forest floor you could see lots of butterflies flittering about.
random fact: to be a rainforest, you must be located between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, have at least 600 species within a couple of acres, have trees reaching 800-2,000ft, and perpetually something in bloom.
random fact: cashews and mangos are related to poison ivy.
after the trip we had lunch at the hotel and then on to excursion #2. on this one we went horseback riding!! my horse was Barbie and paul’s was named Freedom. we took back roads thru a rural neighborhood to the ocean and then walked along the ocean. then we stopped at a little bar type place by the beach and the guides unsaddled the horses and paul and i went bareback riding in the ocean!! we went out far enough to where the horse was actually swimming! ive never been bare back riding and i was pretty much just trying not to fall off the horse. it was soo much fun.

i know i can be bad about actually writing what i do when i take a long busy trip and it requires a lot of writing, but over the next couple days im going to give a brief synopsis of our honeymoon on the island of St Lucia in the Caribbean.
Sunday
Mostly travelling…we got up at like 5am and were travelling allllll day. the highlights were that we had individual TVs at each seat on the plane and the passenger manifest was light so we had the three row seat to ourselves and could stretch out. i was able to watch a movie on the 4+ hour flight. when we landed, a shuttle (van) came to take us across the entire 70 mile island to the Sandals Grande hotel. if youve ever been in a car in the caribbean, youll understand my pain…. trhe drivers are nuts and all the roads are windy and hilly and the drivers fly around these curves and bounce you out of your seat and make you car sick like youve never been before…
when we get to the hotel we are lead to a lounge where we can lay on couches and served champagne and ice cold towels while they check us in. by the time we got to our rooms we were exhausted so we ordered room service, watched some tv, and passed out.
Monday
We had an orientation in the morning to show us around the hotel, then afterwards we went and hunt out at the beach. guys peddling conk shells and necklaces kept coming up to us and a couple of them even offered to sell us drugs LOL. i discovered a new drink called a BBC which is baileys, bananas, and cream and ice. it tastes like a banana milkshake. nearly every day we saw a wedding on the beach.
Tuesday
We went snorkeling. it was paul’s first time and my second. it was way better than my trip on the cruise in march cause this time all my gear fit properly and we got to stay for 30 mins so i got to really see a lot. i really hope my water camera pictures come out!!
afterwards we went swimming in the pool and hot tub, then at night we went to the London style pub and hung out. at 11 they had a chocolate buffet.
i leave for the caribbean sunday!! yay!!!!! im gonna lie on the beach and drink colodas for a whole week!!!
