6 months old

lucas is now 27 weeks old. he still sounds so little when you say it like that

haha lucas literally said “ga-ga” to me today. maybe he likes Lady Gaga?

on the 15th lucas started reacting to us leaving him – by crying. he was looking at paul, and paul walked out of the room, and lucas started to cry. so now if he sees either of us leave he gets upset. if he doesn’t see us leave, he doesn’t notice/realize so we just have to distract him before we walk out.

yesterday was the first day he got up on his hands and knees and started rocking. this is something i read about in my baby bulletin last week “Your baby may also be getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. He is trying to gain the strength he needs to start crawling.” paul saw him do it during tummy time yesterday, and when i came in to get him up this morning he was doing it in the crib. soon my baby will be crawling away and won’t want me to hold him anymore 😦

i have a cold. yucky. i had to cancel my appt with the psychologist (actually i had paul call) and had to have paul stay home from work. i slept until 430 in the afternoon.

the past two days lucas has started crying if we leave the room. like if he’s looking at you, and you walk out, he starts to cry. so we have to make sure he’s looking at the parent not leaving and sneak out.

dream log

lauren and i were talking about our dreams and remembering our dreams. im going to record my dreams for a week to see how many i remember. i was supposed to be recording my sleep patterns that led up to the dreams as well, but i forgot. anyhow here are my dreams so far this week in brief:

Weds, my first day of trying, i remembered 4. my sleep patterns were 3am-530 when lucas’s crying woke me up for a minute. then i woke up again at 8 when paul went to work. then i slept 9-11am when lucas was napping.

1. gramma’s farm house – the living room was overgrown with dead plants everywhere

2. becky was wearing a hot pink, zebra striped sweat outfit so we had to have a fashion intervention

3. abby saw a golden retriever on the tv and kept trying to nuzzle/play with it

4. i was standing at the bottom of an interstate off ramp when a guy on a motorcycle crashed on the road right in front of me and i was trying to call 911

Thurs – 2

1. i was in my camaro and was racing a firebird

2. not approved for all audiences

Fri – 2

1. we had moved to a new house and i had to start a new high school. stephanie was telling me that there were 2 high schools and i could choose which one i wanted to go to

2. i had a party at my house vand i was showing off lucas and sookie to everyone…ticia platt was the first one to arrive and i didnt really know what to say to her since we werent really friends

Sat – 3

1. i was cleaning out the fish tanks and found *7* more undone fish tanks in the other room; mom offered me some creme brulee but said “bill likes meat better than creme brulee” and i said “why on earth does that matter” and she said that bill cooks all the food and since he doesnt like creme brulee he doesnt make it very well

2. i went to europe with lucas, mom, stephanie, and melissa. first the way that we went we fell down off the walkway over an area 3 stories down. we all grabbed the curtains on the 3 story window we fell in front of and had to shimmy down. then we were on a barge going down the waterways of the city and i was trying to take pictures but stuff kept falling out of my suitcase into the water

3. i was in girl scouts and we were walking along for a field trip, when i noticed some of the other scouts up on the hill and i was calling them down to come join us – ashleigh best and allison blakely and megan ranger

4.  i was taking the elevator up and forgot to hit the button for the 15th floor….the only button pressed was for the 50th. i tried hitting other buttons like 19 and 23 to get off earlier, but it kept going up. when i got off at 50 there was a young vampire there with bright red eyes. he said he was dracula and he was attacking people.

ketchup

i have been commanded to make a new post. which i guess is a good thing since i see now that i havent posted in over a month.so let’s see…from oct to november….

i heard about some Daisy girl scouts that needed a troop, so I began putting together a troop for them, plus did more recruiting for my brownies. I ended up with about 13 Daisies and now 12 total brownies ( I had 5). While putting together the Daisy troop I discovered they had plenty of willing leaders, they just didn’t know what to do. So now I am just mentoring the leaders in their doing the troop and won’t be doing the troop myself. I’m happy with this plan since I only signed up to do it in the first place since I didn’t want them to not have a troop. in addition, i am now the assistant cookie chair for the whole service unit…meaning this girl jennifer and i are in charge of ordering and distributing etc allll the cookies for alllll the troops in the acworth area. i also signed up to be the troop organizer for the service unit, which would mean i’d be doing what i did for the daisy troop…teaching new troops how to put their troops together and recruiting new girls and leaders. fun!

on 0ct 17, lauren, kristie, and i did our yearly apple day + yahoo farms trip in Ellijay, GA. This year we went to a new place called Hillcrest Orchards where you pick your own apples off the trees (you pay to do this, so in a way, you are paying them to do their work for them :P) then we went to the petting zoo which was soo much fun playing with all the animals. i wanna get some mini goats like that for my yard.  after Hillcrest we went to Yahoo farms for the corn maze and haunted hay ride. on the hay ride, the skeleton guy kissed lauren lol!

on oct 26, i went to see the movie surrogates with lauren, jake, john, and jenn. we also ate at Outback where Jenn and I got the Wallaby Darn or Down or whatever they’re called – champagne and peach schnapps and some other stuff. soo yum. they messed up jenn’s meal so we also got a free dessert .

oct 31st was Lucas’s first Halloween. He and I went to mom’s house and hung out with mom and Ron and passed out candy. He went as a monkey because that’s what i call him – monkey baby.

nov 7th was laurens bday, but she is lame and didnt want to do anything for it. in the morning i had a girl scout field trip to the booth western art museum where they had a Colors and Shapes try-it workshop. it was a lot of fun – especially when we made stamps and created an aqua-scape with the stamps. after the trip Madison and I went to pick up the fall product sale nuts and chocolates and then i took her home – her neighborhood is gorgeous – i wanna live there!!

on sunday the 8th paul and i had brunch with matt at ocharleys, and then that evening i went to my first scrapbooking club meeting. we made a 2 pg christmas layout that is soo cute. i had a lot of fun and am going back again today. the club is just a group of women here in acworth that get together a couple of times a month to scrap (i love making up my own verbs for this…i like to be scrappy!). today was lucas’s 6 month birthday!

nov 10th i had a girl scout leader meeting. jennifer pope and i did the cookie training for the cookie moms in the service unit. i got a few boxes of the new cranberry cookie. they are soo yummy i ate one box in a sitting.

nov 11th was a girl scout meeting where we did the Me and My Shadow tryit. weds was such a hectic day. lucas didnt sleep all day so i was behind getting my stuff together for the meeting (and it was a LOT to get together). plus paul’s meeting ran late so i had to bring lucas to the meeting with me and he was crying the whole time since he was so very tired. it was a fun meeting, but the day was really exhausting and stressy, especially since all i really had all day was a bunch of coke which did NOT help.

yesterday was lucas’s 6 month check-up. he got his immunization shots and a flu shot. his new numbers are: 17.5″ head circumference, 27.5 inches long, and 18 lbs 14oz weight. not really much to say about the appt since he is doing well.he sits up now in what paul calls tripod style – he puts an arm in front of him to support himself. he loves to make high pitched shrieks like a bird and low growly noises like a dinosaur. he rolls allll over the crib when he sleeps. if laying on his belly he can puch himself up with his arms, but he hasnt figured out to pull his legs up under him at the same time to be in crawling position. i think we should be giving him more tummy time. he drools like crazy and you can nearly see his first tooth. if you run your finger over the top of his gums you can feel the sharp edge of the top of the tooth. one day he started a nonstop babble of sounds ba-da-da type noises. it was soo funny.

this afternoon im going to the scrapbooking club to learn about the new digital scrapbooking program. if i like it im going to ask for it for xmas.

This weekend

*yawn* mornings are evil. i have cpr class in rome alllll day. boring.

yesterday we went to fernbank science center to work on the watching wildlife and space explorer badges. the girls made earthworm habitats that they got to take home. it was really funny how excited they got about their pet worms. they were naming them and making up stories about them. their parents were so thrilled (sarcasm) about their daughters bringing home a bunch of worms 🙂

Forgotten Soldiers

Yesterday I volunteered to man the Forgotten Soldiers booth at the Battle of the Bands fest at Harley Davidson. It was a motorcycle show + live rock bands + vendors in tents selling stuff. We (the founder lady and I) had a booth where you could donate money to send care packages to the soldiers overseas, cards to write notes to the soldiers, and coloring pages for the kids to color and send. It was a really pretty day and I sat outside listening to music and reading my scrapbooking book in between people walking by. Unfortunately, sitting in the sun for two hours left me with a semi-dark burn.

trying to stay positive

#1 the house is ours!! so apparently pauls dad had added his name to the deed at some point, so when he died it defaulted to paul 100% ownership. we discovered this when we got billed for our yearly taxes 🙂 this was insanely awesome news cause i’ve always been frustrated (esp lately) that we live in a house we won’t own (pauls mom’s answer to that “why do you need to own it now, you’ll get everything when i die” – yah when lucas is graduating college!!), can’t afford to move right now, and are stuck paying to fix things in a house we didn’t own. but now that we know we DO own it, everything changes. this made my day (originally)

#2 today i took the brownies ice skating. i had a lot of fun. mckenzie has cerebal palsy (sp?) and doesnt use her left leg well so managing to skate (she’s never roller or ice skated before) was a big deal for her. it was fun to watch her go from so frustrated about not being able to do it (duh, it’s your first time ever) in the beginning to being able to do it and having fun. the other girls i think had fun, too, altho they mostly wizzed by me. apparently i can no longer skate.

#3 as i was leaving the rink lisa called and needed me to pick up michael from day care cause she was running 30 mins late. then the 3 of us went to ocharleys for dinner and a drink. i had a lot of fun hanging out with lisa (and the cotton candy martini was yum – lol which i accidentally mis-texted to steph as bottom candy – ewww).

#4 so then i talk to dad tonight. today he had a “meeting” with the aunts who have suddenly decided that they want to be involved in all this. i couldn’t make the meeting because i was at the rink, and while i’d like to think i’d speak up and have voiced my opinion, i probably would have chickened out had i actually been there. anyhow a bunch of stuff was decided and now i basically feel like the whole project (which i was nearly entirely doing with dad) has been taken away from me. dad still offered to let me deal with the war stuff as originally planned, but i guess it’s just not the same. i was having so much fun working on a big project, getting out of the house, and helping and stuff. i had visions of actually voluntarily visiting my grandmother to talk to her about some of the items and learn about her past. then today i am suddenly reminded that oh yah, I HATE THAT SIDE OF THE FAMILY.

so talk about a buzz kill. i was having such a fabulous, fun day and now i’m so upset and pissy and hurt.

Yesterday while doing “tummy time” we noticed lucas was really pulling his chest and not just his head pretty high off the ground. he was propped up on his arms with half his torso in the air. i think that’s one of the precurser steps to eventually crawling. He also rolls himself over a lot. I have to really hold on to him when holding him now or he’ll suddenly try to flip out of my lap. When on his back he wiggles himself around so he ends up in a different location…usally 90 degrees from where he was.

we are working on teaching his name. you do this by saying his name frequently when talking directly to him. like “are you ready for you bottle now, Lucas?”

yesterday he also started blowing raspberries 😛

we have an appt on friday with Dr Scott to check into the way he holds his head.

i have ice skating today with the girl scouts. im really excited about going skating, but im also really tired this morning and just want to sleeeeeeep.
