(Not) Sleeping, edition 2

2 weeks later…thought id record another night’s sleep schedule for comparison

2:30am we went up to bed

2:30-3am i sat up pumping (lucas was asleep when we carried him up)

3-3:30am change diaper, fed bottle 3.0 oz

3:30-4am trying to get him settled and asleep with pacifier and swaddling … hes off and on fussy and not sleeping

4am fed him a 1 oz bottle of formula, but he’s still upset

4:15 am – 5am i get him to fall asleep on my chest while im propped up on pillows, we doze

5am – 6:30 am im able to move him to the crib w/o disturbing him and i can lay down and sleep. he woke up at 6am briefly but went back to sleep

6:30am – 7am woke up, diaper change, bottle 2.0 + 2.0 formula

7am-8am slept propped up in bed again

8am tried to move him to the crib but it disturbed him too much so Paul took him and i went to bed

8:15 am – 12:45 pm i slept

so it was about 3 nonconsecutive hrs sleep and 4.5 solid hours of sleep

new laptop

yay paul bought me a new laptop! it was freakin $2500 cause i wanted a gaming one instead of a regular one. its also an alienware…dun dun duun ( the same brand of gaming laptop i had that had a meltdown in london) but since that was 3 yrs ago im hoping this one is better (and since it is now owned by Dell). well if this one melts, too, at least ill be in america to replace it.

Quest: The Ultimate Formula

First id like to say a couple of things…

#1 Souci is pretty smart. Why go stand out in the rain to pee when you can just pee on the front porch. Silly Abby standing out there in the rain and wet grass.

#2 Paul is pretty smart. i really need stamps and when he went to the store tonight he didnt get me any, so he brought me home ferrero rocher instead. instant forgiveness.

So we have accepted a quest from a gnome to find the Ultimate Formula. We began with various brands of the basic formula: Similac, Enfamil, Nestle, and Store brand and observed the various effects. Not receiving a quest completion on any of those, we tried Similac Sensitive which is lactose free. This improved the gassiness but still no quest completion check off. So tonight Paul bought the $25/jar (which lasts less than a week) super sensitive hypo-allergenic ultimate formula. I returned to the quest giver gnome and handed him this special formula, which he drank. Much /fussy and /grumpy emotes ensued. About an hour later paul lay him down in the crib and he lay there looking around a few moments calmy before errupting all 3 oz of the ultimate special formula in a geyser that would make the one at Yellowstone that Gramma Janice is visiting this week pack up and go home.  Quest failed.

Responding

Yay Lucas did something new last night!

Up until now he has been pretty much non-responsive to outside stimuli – living in his own little world. the past week he’s started actually looking into our eyes esp when feeding instead of just looking vaguely around. well last night i saw him looking at the elephants that hang from the top of the crib…its the first time ive seen him even notice them. there are 3 in a row. when i whacked one with my hand and made it swing, his eyes followed it. then when i hit a different one, he would turn his attention to the new one. it’s the first time i’ve seen him actually respond to something! i was so excited i went to get the video camera. by the time i got it plugged in and ready to go, he had fallen asleep 😦
