Ireland

Just got back in from ireland and im *knackered*! itll prob take forever to get the whole story of the trip posted (seeing as i still havent written about the week of new years even – the more i have to say, the longer it takes me to get around tp typing it all). anyhow, for now ill paste what i told lauren in an IM as to why i absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE ireland. (the following list is not in any certain order and it is by no means comprehensive).

1. ireland is known for celtic stuff, and i love celtic stuff
2. irish folklore believe in fairies – i collect fairies
3. everything in ireland is green – i love green
4. their traditional music includes pipes and flutes….very pretty
5. the people are unbelievably nice and friendly – theyre soo adorable i totally love them
6. celtic stuff is often similar to medieval fantasy type stufff – like elves and fairies so it all has a fantasy type atmosphere
7. the country side is breathtakingly beautiful
8. i had soooo much fun on the trip

A forum for our discussions

Hi all;

After having a chat with Ally about how the blog seems to be going a bit astray of it’s initial purpose (namely, providing a place to post updates on her and Kristie’s travels/experiences in the UK), she thought it would be a good idea to have a discussion forum where all of us can discuss various topics (unrelated to the blog). I have happily set that up at the following address:

www.ally-cat.com/forum

I encourage everyone to sign up there; it seems to be working quite well, and should be a better “forum” (ahah!) to discuss things like politics, religion, etc.

9 Days Left

friday night after work i went with craig, james, james’s roomie dean, his friend alison, yvey, and martin to motion for happy hour. then at 7 i went home and martin and ben picked up mayoor, emily, and me to go see Team America. The theatre was in Greenwich and was kinda neat. there we met up with shane and nigel. the movie was pretty funny. trey parker and matt stone (south park) were the ones that did it, so you can imagine what kinda humour it was. they all went back to wanstead afterwards, but i was so tired so i went home and went to bed. the next morning they went to the pub to watch the liverpool vs manchester match. not really my cup of tea so i spent the day at Harrods looking around and then went to the mall at Stratford to buy some tops. I got home just in time to get ready real fast and go out with everybody to a pub then a club in covent garden. it was for a friend of a friend of a friends bday (meaning id never met the girl). we had a blast. it was kristie and me, mayoor, martin, ben, nigel, and one of bens friends named adam. we met up with emily (who had been out speed dating with canadian laura) and all took the tube home together.
sunday kristie and i slept in and then went to micks (little cafe) for breakfast. micks is great – its like getting up and going to waffle house or something. the guys that work there know us and are super nice. afterwards we went to the grocery store. we also picked up some feather mattresses to sleep on so we wont have spring poking us in the backs anymore. i dunno how we’re gonna get all this stuff home.
for dinner we met up with mayoor, emily, martin, nigel, rod, and american laura for sunday night curry. afterwards emily came over and hung out.

thats about it for the weekend.

I am in an ecstatically (sp?) great mood today! i have no idea why, nothing particularly exciting has happened. maybe its a combo of all the little things. yesterday the cable guy came and we finally have not only our internet back, but now have cable tv as well. on top of that, las vegas was on. it was the first ep from this current season. i had seen that one right b4 i left for europe, but hopefully now each week ill be able to see the other new eps! today is the first day i havent felt sick. still congestion, but i feel great (despite going to bed at 1am last night 😛 ). i burned a cd with songs for me, inge, and james and we listened to it at work today. its really pretty out today too. sunny blue and not too cold. logically i know its no where near spring time, but i can pretend for a day. prob helps that its friday too. so yeah im positively giddy today.

We’re in the process of switching from DSL to cable (meaning faster internet and cable tv now that we finally have a tv in the house – thanks adam!). they were sposed to come this past sat to hook it up, but they never showed up so now we have to wait until this thursday. until then we have no internet and no house phone.

it esp sux cause ive been sick since friday and dont feel up to going out ever. luckily on sat morning i found the dvds paul had brought stuck btwn the seat of the couch so i spent all day watching tv (gilmore girls, the oc, and van helsing). it was soooooooooo good to watch some of my shows.

tonight i went to a BUNAC pub meet with emily and rod. thats all i have to say right now.

before i forget (ill elaborate later):

thurs: digress w/ roomies, laura,, laura, and rod
fri: new years eve

mon: sight seeing
tues: day of rest

updates

ive uploaded the latest pic sets, “tower of london” in the touristy stuff, and “digress” in the late night london stuff. there are also a couple new pix in misc section and the friends section. there are too many albums in the touristy section now to fit all on one page, so to view the new album, you hafta click on the touristy stuff section, and then go to pg 2. how annoying is that. 😛

im sooo exhausted!! today we got up early to go sight seeing. kristie, her friend laura, and i went and walked all thru the tower of london. then emily came and met us and we went up tower bridge. we tried to go to st pauls cathedral but it was closing and we didnt wanna pay L6 to only see half of it, so instead we went to La Madeleine (a french cafe) to have dinner. from there we walked down to covent garden to meet rod and filthy american laura at a pub. thats the bare bones of the story…i fill in more later.

"To gaze is to think."

Today Emily and i went and did touristy stuffs. we went to Dali Universe, a small museum of the works of Salvador Dali. It was pretty neat, cept it didnt have any of the paintings hes really known for. there were some great water colors depicting romeo and juliet – lots of reds and blues. i wish they had those available in prints. there was also a small picasso display, but im not really into picasso and it wasnt even his best stuff (a lot of black and white ink pieces depicting a bull fight). then we went to the london aquarium. im quite spoiled by the tennessee aquarium, compared to that, this one was small and unimpressive. i definitely liked the shark tank, tho.

the museum and aquarium are located right by big ben, so afterwards emily and i walked around big ben and westminster taking about 80 pix a piece. then we headed over to tower bridge (which i hadnt even seen yet) and took some pix of that. it was really fun just walking around london and sight seeing. we got some fab photos 😀

when we got back home, kristie and laura met us at emilys house to watch robin hood (kevin costner version). they made fun of it the whole way thru saying it was cheesy and bad acting. *sigh*

tomorrow kristies best friend laura arrives. im gonna go pick her up from victoria and then well go meet kristie at her work. kristie spent the whole day today cleaning the house from top to bottom. she did an even better job than the cleaning lady. maybe we should just start paying kristie to clean instead. 😉
