baby food is kinda yum

maybe i should start eating it myself. so last month i looked up a baby feeding chart to see how much lucas should be eating and i was shocked at how much baby food he was supposed to be getting ( we were still feeding him nearly all formula with a jar of baby food around every other day). so we majorly amped up his solids and this week i started adding stage 2 foods – instead of it being just applesauce, he has vanilla applesauce mixed with a little grain. it pretty much tastes like flavored sweet applesauce and is pretty darn good. lucas loves his fruits but still isn’t too keen on veggies. he’ll get half way thru a veggie jar and then clamp up and won’t take more bites until you switch to fruit. if you keep shoving peas in, he’ll get mad at you and kinda cry angrily (he has also started getting grumpy if you take a “toy”). the downside is he now poops 2-3 times a day instead of once a day plus it takes forever to feed him because he is all ADD about it and tries to look at everything and grab everything while being fed. we sit him up in his bumbo chair with a little bumbo tray to feed him. it’s easier than the high chair and the bumbo can be put on any surface next to you…desk…futon.

today i put up a large baby superyard (jail, pen, whatever you want to call it) because now that he learned to crawl, he’s only interested in grabbing stuff he isn’t supposed to grab rather than his toys. he didn’t seem to mind being in it and just crawled around playing with toys and watching tv.

ever since he learned to sit up at the en of Nov, we’ve been able to put him in high chairs at restaurants and in the shopping carts (end of dec) instead of toting the carrier or trying to push the stroller + buggy.

i’m loving my new craft desk. i really need to take down the christmas tree…some day

happy birthday to me

for my birthday i got a new craft desk from michaels. its built from several storage cubes with boards on top. they were on sale today so i ran out and bought a bunch and then spent from 4pm – 10pm (with a dinner break) assembling them. i did it nearly all myself (paul helped with the frustrating parts when the screws wouldn’t align). i’m really excited about working at it. paul seemed pleased that he might be able to recover the futon since it’s been my current workstation and you hafta do a jump and a leap usually to even reach it, and even then there is only enough room for myself and maybe a couple animals.

im going to be sick, they just ate an eyeball on tv. altho i assume it was fake but ewww

my list of random thoughts, rants, and blabs

this will require a couple of days thought probably, but i’ll start it off

#1 QT has crappy coke – they must not mix it right or something
#2 the reason jake couldnt find any white lights was because they are all at my walmart and yall got all the colored ones….and if you ever need a zillion blue – swing on by acworth . i mean seriously, blue? it’s not even a xmas color

jan update:
#3 there is a billboard outside cartersville advertising tombstones are on sale. do you think i should buy one? i mean ya know everyone is gonna need one, they don’t expire, and might as well get it while they’re cheap!
#4 one of those stand up signs warning of a wet floor was off the side of the road today where some water and ice had collected in a little gully.
#5 i hate the cold.

getting there

lucas came one step closer to crawling today…he was on all fours and was able to lift a hand and smack it on the ground. then at one point he slid his knee forward but then he flopped.

on the 26th on the ride home from TN he held his own bottle in the car seat and was able to both hold on to it and tip it up

walmart is ruining xmas!

UGH. so first i find out that i have to get a new tree so i didnt get my tree put up until *Dec 16th* (only 2 weeks before xmas!!). then i go to walmart (in the middle of the night to avoid people, i really dont like going to walmart to begin with) and they don’t have any normal colored lights. just boxes and boxes of blue. are there really *that* many people that have blue trees? the one single multi box i found was not enough to cover the tree, so i started over today and went to a different walmart by the mall where i bought a 400 count set of multi lights. i open it tonight to put them on the tree, and they are white instead of green. ungh. so now im heading out to target in hopes that THEY actually have NORMAL xmas lights so i can finally decorate my tree!

update: so i went to target to get more lights. the lights ended up costing me $180 because i love target (so much pleasanter shopping there than at walmart) and found a ton more little gifts for everyone. i think i might be having trouble finding xmas lights because it seems that the thing to get now are the LED lights. target didn’t even seem to have the regular kind, just the LED ones. so i bought multi-colored, green wired LED lights. i dont like them. they are super bright like outdoor lights or something. it’s just too overwhelming. my favorite ones ever i got at walmart a few years ago where each bulb is two colors. splitting the bulbs in half like that actually make them even less bright than the regular ones and i think those are the prettiest because it gives the tree a subtle twinkley color instead of looking like youre hanging traffic lights from your tree. i think the blue bulbs are the worst ones so im thinking about getting an additional strand of clear and replaceing all the blue bulbs with white to tone it all down. for this year tho the tree is staying as is because im fed up. it’s one week till xmas and the tree is just now getting up and decorated. hopefully all the ornaments will distract from the bulbs.

ahhh i’ve really gotta start preparing for xmas in october and november. i feel like im going to lose it this week. i still have sooo much to do and i am *out of time*

lucas has the top quarter of his two front bottom teeth now. we got portraits done at sears and he is so freakin cute. i told paul we owe it to the world to have lots of babies since ours come out so cute.

i don’t want to hear another word about paul’s mom and “oh i bet she’s so lonely and so sad…she’s all alone…” all that crap that makes me feel guilty that we don’t pay any attention to her. i wnet out of my way and out of my shell to talk to her, locate a therapist that speaks korean and is familiar with the korean culture to meet with and try to mend the relationship between the family, and she doesn’t even care. if she doesn’t care to fix things then she is obviously doing just fine and doesn’t need us. since i already typed all this out to lauren in IM, i’ll paste it here.

ModernHecate (9:29:04 PM): sayin she couldnt go tomorrow because she has another heart doc appointment or something. i asked her when she would want to reschedule the appt for. she starts telling me this whole thing about how now just isnt a good time for any of this because she has other stuff to deal with and what did i need to tlak about?

ModernHecate (9:30:08 PM): i tried explainging a couple of the many issues we have with her. like when i mentioned about the power of attorney issue we had awhile back she misunderstood and somehow decided it had something to do with wills and tells me shes not dying yet
ModernHecate (9:30:45 PM): i told her its nothing to do with dying, it’s to do with paul taking care of her money. she says she doesnt have much money anymore because the shop isnt doing well and she doesnt get her military money yet or something or other

ModernHecate (9:31:12 PM): and i said “no i dont mean getting your money, i mean about paul handling it for you

ModernHecate (9:31:40 PM): and she asked what changes and i said how she needs to sell her house and move into a smaller one since she isnt able to make her house payments
ModernHecate (9:31:56 PM): she says she cant sell her house because of the economy and something about selling her business to pay for her ouse
ModernHecate (9:32:14 PM): fine whatever – this was a small irrelevant issue – but she has an excuse fr every thing we say

ModernHecate (9:32:26 PM): so im saying how we need to talk about htings to fix the family relationships
ModernHecate (9:33:04 PM): and she says that we should just go talk her and i some evening. i said i wanted to do it with the therapist because she speaks korean and she claimed htat didnt matter
ModernHecate (9:33:28 PM): then she said we didnt need to go pay money to talk to a doctor about our personal business because it was none of her business (as if the doc cares)
ModernHecate (9:34:00 PM): so i told her that if she wanted to fix her relationship with paulthat we had to go see the therapist and talk about a whole list of things
ModernHecate (9:34:05 PM): YOU KNOW WHAT SHE TOLD ME?
ModernHecate (9:34:14 PM): “I’M JUST NOT INTERESTED IN THAT RIGHT NOW.
ModernHecate (9:34:34 PM): im busy trying to sell my store and pay off my house…maybe some other time”
ModernHecate (9:37:32 PM): so that’s it. im not bothering anymore either. she obviously doesnt care about fixing things. another thing i realized. she never has any interest in seeing lucas. every once in awhile she calls and says she wants to see him. paul tells her he’ll call her back when its a good time and never calls. i thought she just never saw him because he didnt ever let her…but whenever there is a bill or some pressing matter that she needs, she calls relentlessly until we talk to her
ModernHecate (9:37:44 PM): like she calls and calls or shows up at the house until she gets what she wants
ModernHecate (9:38:02 PM): but other than a couple of times asking that once she never pressed the issue about seeing lucas so i guess she doesnt really care that much
